Academy to turn kids into stars

MORE than 30 exceptional hockey players aged 14-17 enjoyed their first training and education sessions with TAS last week, and the feedback has all been positive.

The academy will host an official launch party on Friday at the Bamboo Restaurant in Casuarina from 4pm.

Based at Casuarina, the academy has been established to identify and develop the wealth of sporting talent in the Tweed, and aims to provide a range of services to enable young sport stars of the future to reach their potential without having to move away from the region.

The TAS Hockey class of 2009/10 is: Zaylia Arthur, Brittany Barnes, Cath Conlon, Jordeigh Dunn, Allie Farrell, Madison Fitzpatrick, Savannah Fitzpatrick, Emily Hetherington, Sarah Johnston, Djena Jordan , Rebecca Mitchell, Gabi Nance, Vanessa Robson, Jessie Ross, Catie Smith, Paris Sutton, Andrew Butturini, Oliver Crane, Keegan Craven, Jake Farrell, Chris Fahy, Luke Foyster, Brad Frappell, Zac Grace, Scott Harbison, Alex Hetherington, Isaac Lindley, Hamish Lomas, Dean Standfield, Keiran Walker, Blake Wotherspoon, Dylan Wotherspoon and Alex Wright.
