Newman to offer $500m for regions while in Emerald

THE LNP will announce a $500 million splash into Queensland's regions.

The Queensland Country Life is reporting the Newman Government will spend $500 million on the Royalties for Regions scheme, more than the $495 million it on the program in its first term.

Mr Newman is set to make the announcement in Emerald this morning.

However, the funding is dependent on the government privatising assets under their "Strong Choices" plan.

While the government yesterday said they hoped to get more than their expected $37 billion for leasing state owned port and electricity assets, Mr Newman said he would take assets off the market if they didn't receive "full value".

Mr Newman has not been able to explain how the LNP would fund its election promises if this occurs.
