Nick Kyrgios dropped from Davis Cup battle with Britain

NICK Kyrgios's turbulent season has taken another turn, with the 20-year-old dumped from Australia's Davis Cup semi-final against Great Britain.

Kyrgios will miss Australia's biggest tie in a decade.

Australian captain Wally Masur on Tuesday effectively included Tomic, the country's top-ranked player with an impressive 14-2 win-loss record in the century-old teams' event, in a straight swap for Kyrgios.

Kyrgios, who lost in four sets to Murray in the first round of the US Open last week, has lurched from one public incident to the next since Wimbledon.

After a series of run-ins with officials at the All England Club, the 20-year-old's infamous sledging of French Open champion Stan Wawrinka at last month's Montreal Masters led to sanctioning from the ATP for aggravated behaviour.
