NiExtension - Story - A Ship to Nowhere

APN's Newspapers in Education is promoting the importance and joys of reading through its Read-a-Story special. This NiExtension will provide readers with a nine chapter historical fiction that focuses on a specific aspect of the curriculum, giving students the opportunity to practise literacy skills while enjoying the experience of reading.

The story will be published in your local APN's daily newspaper for nine weekdays commencing June 11 and concluding June 21. As the tale unfolds each day, readers will be guided through a variety of ways to extract meaning from the text.  With newspapers supplied to schools each day, this special is an excellent resource for shared reading in the classroom and is a way of teaching students how to use language while having fun reading. The story should appeal to its audience with relevant topics and ideas being involved, providing a platform for classroom discussions.
