British royals to attend Tweed stamp and coin fair
NO DOUBT Kate Middleton and Prince William will be at the Cudgen Leagues Club this Sunday for the Twin Towns Stamp Club Annual Fair.
Maybe not in the flesh but certainly in stamp form, along with many other coveted royals.
Other categories to be exhibited by the club's 25 members include Australiana, United Nations and Anzac stamps.
Locals will have the opportunity to get their notes and coins valued, Antiques Roadshow-style, by professional dealers travelling from Brisbane.
"This year we've incorporated old and antique pounds, pennies, sixpence and decimal notes, like the one-cent and 20-cent notes into the show," stamp club secretary Richard Mills said.
The exhibit has been designed to attract a new, young crowd to the stamp club, which has been established for about 30 years.
"We'll have free goodie bags for the kids, with stamps and sponsored items, supplied by some wonderful Melbourne dealers," Mr Mills said.
The stamp and coin fair will be held from 9am-3pm, with a major professional auction at 1pm.
"People will be able to buy stamps cheaply through a bargain table and through stamp club circuit books," Mr Mills said.
"Last year I was lucky enough to purchase a Princess Diana collection at the fair, so it can be a great opportunity for the astute collector."
Entry is free.
