No tsunami warning for Australia

A WIDESPREAD tsunami warning has been issued for countries in the Pacific but the Bureau of Meteorology has said there is no threat to Australia.

A massive earthquake struck 382km northeast of Tokyo at 2.46pm local time (4.46pm AEDST), and was followed by a series of powerful aftershocks.

A tsunami has swept through parts of Japan, devastating cities.
