Not your 'typical' restaurant
RUSTIC Restaurant and Bar is a first of its kind for Robina.
Owner/manager Nathan Warner said he wanted to change the way people in Robina approached dining.
"You don't have to go to a shopping centre to enjoy a meal or a nice glass of wine," he said.
The venue, located in the Ron Penhaligon Way Shopping Village, has been open for two weeks and had already enjoyed strong repeat business.
That's an impressive feat in an area dominated by a large shopping centre with a variety of restaurants.
"It's great to see people testing the waters, so to speak, and we're starting to see a lot of familiar faces," Mr Warner said.
Rustic is expecting to receive its liquor licence in the next month and will fill a special and highly unique niche for the suburb as a wine bar.
Mr Warner explained the logo drew inspiration from the residue left from the bottom of a cold wine glass.
"This is a place where you can enjoy a good meal and a quiet drink," he said.
"The decor has a nice relaxing feel with earthy tones. It's a little bit of Melbourne or Tasmania; I'm not after typical."
The focus is on good value, light, tapas-style meals that can be easily shared.
"Our gourmet pizzas are proving very popular - the base and the sauce are made in-house," he said.
"We're all about fresh ingredients and great tasting, but unpretentious well-rounded food."
Live jazz will be introduced in about a month.
