NRL player Corey Norman to face court

THE Parramatta Eels have released a statement after police confirmed they had charged star utility back Corey Norman with drug possession.

"The Parramatta Eels are aware if a court attendance notice provided to Corey Parker this afternoon by NSW Police," the statement reads.

"Clearly this is a serious development that will now be factored into the club's ongoing investigation.

"The club will continue to work closely with the NRL and relevant authorities throughout this process.

"In accordance to the values of this football club,we will offer Corey the presumption of innocence and the opportunity to respond to the charges in today's notice.

"Importantly we will continue to offer Corey all of the support and welfare resources available to everyone in the Eels family."

Norman - who plays at both five eight and fullback had been touted as an Origin possibility earlier in the year after a stunning performance in the Auckland nines.
