Nurses rally for patient service

TWEED Hospital nurses are expected to attend a lunch time rally for safe patient care next Wednesday at 12pm.

The rally is being organised by the New South Wales Nurses’ Association in response to job cuts made by the North Coast Area Health Service this year.

It will be held out the back of The Tweed Hospital on Keith Compton Drive.

Nurses’ Association North Coast area organiser Jo-Anne McKeough said all members of the community are invited to attend to rally alongside the nurses.

“This is about the community, they are the ones who really need to be there,” Ms McKeough said.

“Across the region there have been hundreds of nursing and allied health positions cut with very little, if any, new staff being recruited.”
