THREE prominent Ocean Shores land tracts with commercial development approval have been listed on the market following the death of a prominent Queensland developer.

Chum Vidgen who died last year aged 73 was engaged in a running battle with Byron Shire Council and local environmentalists during the 1990s.

His widow Donna has placed three Ocean Shores tracts of land on the market with council commercial development approval.

A 7ha site on Shara Boulevard is approved for a service station, while a 1.7ha site on the opposite side of the road is approved for a motel plus a restaurant.

The third tract of land south of Billinudgel has approval for a 94 unit retirement village on a 2.1ha site.

The agent handling the sale, Chris Todd from Todd Rural, has issued guiding prices of $500k for the motel site, $1.4 million for the service station site and $2 million for the seniors site.

It was Mr Vidgen who was behind the development of Ocean Shores Shopping Village.

He also developed and sold a large number residential homes in the area.

He sold land across both sides of Jones Rd, Yelgun to the consortium behind the Splendour in the Grass music festival in 2006.

In a brief statement, the Vidgen family says it wants sell the assets and move on with their lives.
