Ocean Spirit bottling good vibrations

POSITIVE vibes and a dedication to creating the best natural and toxic-free products possible are the driving forces behind a thriving Tweed business.

Founded two decades ago, Ocean Spirit was created when Jodie Sharp began making natural skincare products as Christmas presents.

But production did not fully ramp up until about five years ago, when new business manager Sandie Lane√ came on board.

With degrees in holistic therapies, including aromatherapy, massage, meditation and studies on the functioning of the human body, Ms Sharp is dedicated to helping the community.

“My products are natural, vegan friendly and help the body to naturally restore and heal itself,” Ms Sharp said.

“It’s not just the products but what goes into it. I’ve done metaphysics and studies of the mind, so I put that vibration into the products to bless them and that’s what makes the difference.”

Refining and developing Ocean Spirit, Ms Sharp has been able to go to new levels with her products helping people, particularly with skin conditions and a range of health ailments.

She said scientific evidence pointed towards positive thought having an effect on energy, which she channels into products through happiness and good vibrations.

“I’ve got an oil called ‘pain relief’, seven aroma blends for muscular sprains, breaks and injuries, rescue balance for anxiety, stress, trauma and shock, plus external medicines which can be rubbed on and are great for upset stomachs,” Ms Sharp said.

“I’ve just developed a Surf Screen, that’s got zinc and blockers for sun protection in the surf.”

Ms Sharp currently has distributors in five states and hopes to expand internationally while give back to the community by employing as many locals as possible who may be unable to work regular nine-to-five hours.

To cater for production and the employment of locals, Ms Sharp will begin renovating her makeshift factory in the next few months to expand Ocean Spirit’s headquarters.

Everything is handmade and Ms Sharp currently has one lady helping and Ms Sharps mother - also a healer who carries out therapies - handles administration.
