Om lifts himself to record
THE Democratic People's Republic of Korea's Om Yun Choi has become only the fifth man in history to lift three times his own body weight in the men's 56 kilogram clean and jerk weightlifting competition.
Setting a new Olympic record and equalling the world record, Om raised a hefty 168 kilograms, one kilogram more than the mark set by triple gold medallist Halil Mutlulifting in Sydney.
Om's record lift helped him to the top of the competition with Indonesia's Jadi Setiadi his closest pursuer.
