Fatal crash victim identified as young Pittsworth man
UPDATE 2.30PM: Police are investigating whether speeding and not wearing a seatbelt were major contributing factors in a crash which claimed the life of a young Pittsworth man at the weekend.
Bryce McLoughlin, 18, was flung from a Mazda 6 sedan when it left Golf Course Rd and rolled a number of times, coming to rest about 50m from the road.
Mr McLoughlin died of his injuries at the scene.
Initial investigations suggest he had left a licensed venue in Pittsworth about 12.20am Sunday and had been travelling south.
Police are investigating whether the vehicle was speeding at the time the car failed to navigate a sharp left-hand bend in the road near the intersection of Jentz Rd.
A passing motorist made the grisly discovery about 9am Sunday.
UPDATE NOON: Investigations are continuing into a fatal single-vehicle crash which claimed the life of an 18-year-old Pittsworth man yesterday.
Toowoomba City Patrol Group Inspector Stephen Angus said initial investigations indicated speed and not wearing a seatbelt may have been contributing factors in the crash which was discovered by a passing motorist about 9am Sunday.
"The single occupant had been travelling in a southerly direction on Golf Course Rd near the intersection of Jentz Rd and had attempted to negotiate a sharp left-hand bend," Insp. Angus said.
"The driver had failed to negotiate the bend.
"The vehicle has then rolled a number of times."
The teenage driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was ejected from the car.
He died at the scene of the crash as a result of his injuries.
The Mazda 6 sedan was extensively damaged in the crash.
Investigations confirmed the man left Pittsworth about 12.20am and was travelling south at the time of the crash.

SUNDAY, 11.50AM: The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a teenager was killed in a crash this morning.
Police were notified of the crash about 9am, after a passing motorists came across the car along Gold Park Rd.
The 18-year-old man was the only occupant of the vehicle.
EARLIER 10AM: A man has been killed in a crash on the Darling Downs.
A Toowoomba police spokesman said emergency services were currently at the scene of the fatal single-vehicle crash at Pittsworth.
The man was the only occupant of the vehicle.
A Police Media spokeswoman said the "serious traffic crash" happened on Gold Park Rd about 9.07am.
The Queensland Ambulance Service is also on scene and said lengthy delays were expected.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
The Forensic Crash Unit is on its way to the scene to investigate.
