
Man in hospital after truck crashes into ute
Update, 4.20pm: A MAN is lucky to be alive after a truck crashed into the rear of his ute at 8.15am.
Tweed Police duty officer Darren Steel said a prime mover was travelling north, following the ute through a 60km/h roadwork zone.
A Kia station wagon travelling in front of the ute came to a stop behind another car in front, prompting the ute driver to also brake to a stop.
"The Kia stopped, the ute stopped, but the truck did not," Inspector Steel said.
The ute driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
No other person was injured in the collision.
Initial Report, 12.30pm: A UTE crashed on the Pacific Hwy south of Tweed Heads, near the Eviron overpass this morning.
The crash occured about 8.38am and Tweed Police duty officer Darren Steel said one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Ambulance paramedics and Tweed Police officers were on scene.
It is not known what caused the crash at this time.
Motorists are advised to take care when driving through the area.
