Man seriously burnt after offshore yacht fire

Update: February 3, 9.44am

A MAN received burns to 40% of his body after a yacht was destroyed by fire at the weekend. 

Volunteer Marine Rescue Southport posted information about the incident on their Facebook page. 

They said the yacht, which was 20km offshore, burnt to the waterline before sinking. 

The man was rushed back to the Marine Rescue base before being taken to hospital.

ONE person is believed to be injured after a boat fire off the Tweed Coast. 

It is understood the boat, several nautical miles off Point Danger, was well alight just before 12.30pm.
