Tweed's one-stop government shop gets official opening

SERVICE NSW's Tweed branch was opened on Friday by NSW Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner, Service NSW chief executive Glenn King and Tweed MP Geoff Provest.

The one-stop government shop offers Roads and Maritime Services, Fair Trading and Births, Deaths and Marriages services under one banner.

"I'm very excited, it's quite a milestone," Mr King said.

"This is the biggest service centre in NSW so far and positive feedback from the community has been strong.

"It's an innovative use of technology to deliver better customer services and the average waiting time is only six minutes."

Mr Provest said the centre's opening would be a blessing to the Tweed community.

"Instead of travelling across town to do a variety of transactions, people can now go to the one location," he said.

"This will save people time and money."

Mr Stoner said the opening of the centre was a fulfilment of an election promise and he was glad to be in town to attend the opening.

"Last time I went to a motor registry it took about an hour and I felt like going 'don't you know who I am?'," Mr Stoner joked.

"The opening of this centre underpins our whole customer service philosophy.

"Since opening on August 12, staff have assisted more than 2200 customers with very positive feedback about the customer service."

The new centre is located at 13-17 Rivendell, Tweed Heads South and is open from 7am to 7pm weekdays and 8.30am to 3pm Saturdays.
