New one-stop government shop opens doors to public

SERVICE NSW opened its doors to customers today.

Over 300 customers are expected to visit the centre each day.

The one-stop government shop will initially provide services related to Roads and Maritime Services, Fair Trading and Births, Deaths and Marriages, but more services are expected to be added over time.

The service centre is said to provide state-of-the-art service delivery, constantly fuelled by customer feedback.

Self-service options, a front door concierge and a private section for sensitive matters are all part of the Service NSW customer service plan.

"Our customer satisfaction feedback from other Service NSW centres has been exceptional," service centres director Graham Tobin said.

"The concept of this is really state-of-the-art. Every day, we'll receive customer feedback and let the staff know what customers said."

NSW MP Geoff Provest said the centre was a great asset to the Tweed.

"I think it's just a tremendous thing; it's really putting the customer first rather than the process," he said.

"Here in the Tweed we have a lot of elderly people that do require face-to-face and appreciate face-to-face."

The centre offers a 24/7 manned customer helpline to deal with inquiries and is open from 7am-7pm weekdays and 9am-3pm on Saturdays.

"All of this was designed from the customer's point of view and from what they wanted," Mr Tobin said.

Service NSW is located in 13-17 Rivendell, Tweed Heads South. It can be contacted by phoning 137 788 or emailing info@service.nsw.gov.au.
