1 Viagra tablet leaves father of 9 with stiff penalty

CHUCKLES rang out in a Toowoomba court this week when a chap appeared on a charge of being in possession of a Viagra tablet without a prescription.

When it's all said and done, Viagra comes under the same legislation as prescribed medication and those caught with Viagra without a prescription can be left with a stiff penalty.

Apparently, our man had been pulled over by police and the tablet was found during a routine search of his vehicle.

Whether forming part of an explanation or not, the court heard the man was the father of nine children.

His solicitor suggested his client found himself in a difficult situation.

Often, when pulled over by police, offenders with illicit drugs such as "speed" or "ecstasy" might simply swallow the tablet, but our man could have found that option a bit hard - particularly had he been kept in the watch house for any extended period of time.

After all, using a defence that he had swallowed the particular evidence might not stand up in court.

He escaped with a small fine and his dignity.
