MATT Golinski is focusing on the future.

The celebrity chef was unlikely to have looked at the hundreds of tributes that flooded Facebook pages on the first anniversary of the Boxing Day fire that killed his wife and three children and left him severely burned.

Instead Matt continues to "get through every day and look for a positive future", a family spokeswoman said.

"He is not looking back," she said.

"It won't help him or anyone else.

"He is focused on playing it forward."

The official fundraising trust, the Matt Golinski Recovery Fund Trust, also closed yesterday.

"Matt has been very grateful for the financial and emotional support," she said.

"It's never been about getting money for him, which is why he has been giving it away."

Mr Golinski has already donated $100,000 of the funds raised to three burns-related charities.

"He has used his tragedy to help others," she said.

"The money has given him the opportunity to be able to support other burn survivors. He has always been a very giving person."

At least 13,000 people have "liked" an updated photo on the Matt Golinski tribute page, posted on Christmas Day.

Hundreds more have used it as an opportunity to let him know he remained in their thoughts and prayers.

The tribute page is understood to have been started by a Perth woman, unknown to the family, wishing to create a forum for support.

Anyone wishing to engage in further fundraising activities need to contact the Plates for Mates website at platesformates.com.au.
