Family buys into organic farming
THESE three people have taken one more step towards receiving all natural fresh produce from next year.
The Organic Farm Share property, of which they own a slice, has been completely bought by its members.
Laura Caldaia said focus could now be placed on growing at the Unumgar property, south of the Mt Barney National Park and state border.
"I think it's a wonderful concept and I'm happy to be a part of it," Ms Caldaia said.
"It's good to know where my food is coming from and for my daughter to have a connection with her food."
She said the long-term aim of the project was avoiding trips to the supermarket, where food underwent an unnatural and unhealthy journey to the kitchen table.
"I'm a vegetarian, but there are a lot of families involved who eat meat, so the long-term vision is for us to be getting everything we need from Organic Farm Share.
"We believe mainstream farming and agriculture has moved so far from the way nature intended," Ms Caldaia said.
Organic Farm Shares cost $4000 up front, or over a two-year plan for part ownership of the company, which runs the Northern NSW farm.
This gives access to fresh food, annual holidays at the farm and even the chance to earn profit shares.
