THE Today show's cheeky co-host Karl Stefanovic has got a big dose of his own medicine on Wednesday morning.

The TV personality, who often teases his fellow Today presenters, stormed off the show's set this morning after it was revealed the staunch Maroons supporter was actually born in Sydney.

Sports presenter Ben Fordham led the charge as Stefanovic first retreated to a dressing room, slamming the door as he was followed by entertainment presenter Richard Wilkins, and then left the building.

Fordham confronted Stefanovic in the car park before he drove off, and continued to press the issue on social media, tweeting a photo of Stefanovic leaving the building and including the hashtag #soft.

But it appears the storm in a teacup is over, with the Today show's official Twitter account posting a photo of a sour looking Stefanovic back in the studio with Fordham.

It will be interesting to see if the issue reignites conflict on tomorrow morning's show after tonight's State of Origin decider in Sydney.
