Creativity peaks for Easter

MURWILLUMBAH East Primary School was overrun by giant rabbits this week.

Hot on their heels were princesses, policemen and scores of children wearing amazing hats.

No..it wasn't a dress rehearsal for a production of Alice in Wonderland.

The school held its Easter Hat Parade and students went with the theme with gusto.

Mums, dads, grandparents and siblings crammed into the school hall to see the colourful parade that saw hats of all shapes and sizes.

There were bunnies, Easter egg hats, tall hats, short hats and hats with ribbons, bling, flowers and just about everything but the kitchen sink.

Teachers even got in on the act, with pretty bonnets to match the kids'.

Around 100 kids paraded through the hall, with kindy and years 1 and 2 entertaining the rest of the school.

Students spent weeks on their colourful creations.

Principal Mark Downward said the school's hat parades were "always impressive."

"But this year is even better," he said.

"It just gets better every year."

Happy Easter to all our readers.
