PLAN your Australia Day in Tweed with our guide - from an Australia vs India cricket match, to thong-throwing and a street parade, there's plenty happening this Sunday.
Pottsville - Official shindig
Hosted by the Lions Club of Tweed Coast South it will also include a barbecue in the park before the event moves behind Pottsville Sports Club from 1pm.
Then there's Aussie music, a sausage sizzle, damper and family fun games such as thong throwing and ice-cream eating competitions.
The main council event will be at Pottsville Hall.
Tweed Australia Day Ambassador and Olympic swimmer Matt Abood will present citizen awards at Pottsville Hall and the shire's newest citizens will also be sworn in.
Tyalgum - Go country
Tyalgum Hall secretary Bob McDonald expects his village to celebrate country-style.
"Parents can bring their family and go in the Murwillumbah Cycle Club bike race (from 8am) and then, after that, we have the parade up the main street. Everybody is in it.
"The local fire truck will come and get decorated and we might even get a few horses. It's a country experience - you never know who's going to turn up with what."
Tyalgum Hall will also hold an awards ceremony and address by local school captains.
The annual cricket match between Australia and India, which has become somewhat of a tradition, will be played at Bruce Bartrim Oval throughout the day.
"The men and the women of the Indian team are the real deal - it will be great fun, everybody enjoys it," Mr McDonald said.
Kingscliff - Coastal BBQ
The Lions Club's annual Aussie breakfast will be at Kingscliff Lions Park from 7am.
Salt - For music lovers
The Saltbar Beach Bar and Bistro will be holding a Triple J hottest 100 party from noon for those who want to countdown the radio station's top songs of 2013.
Tumbulgum, Tweed - Around the shire
Tweed Heads Chris Cunningham Park will host activities for adults and kids of all ages 9-11am.
While in Tumbulgum Brian at Breckenridge Field, a barbecue and entertainment will be held.
at Bogangar Public School.
The school will also hold a breakfast, flag ceremony and fashion parade from 7.30am.
Bridge the gap
For something a little different, the Tweed Bridge Club will hold an Australia Day tournament, with poetry reading, at their club on Park St, Tweed Heads.
Speaking of funding gaps, Bunnings Warehouse Tweed will also have a fundraiser barbecue for the Royal Fire Service.
