Paddling first for Tweed

THERE’S no better way of exploring the Tweed than on its picturesque waterways, with the river now accessible in a variety of fun and exciting ways thanks to a new stand-up paddle boarding and kayak hire company.

Endless Summer SUP and Kayak Hire is the first of its kind in the heart of Tweed Heads and offers absolute river frontage from its Kennedy Drive location.

Paddlers and kayakers of all skill levels can explore near the shore, or venture out further into the river system, with a large range of single and double kayaks and stand-up paddle boards available for hire.

The company is the brainchild of Tweed couple Damon and Paula Kloots, who saw the need for a dedicated stand-up paddling business in the area.

“There wasn’t a stand-up business on the Tweed River and we thought it was a shame that more people weren’t able to enjoy it,” Ms Kloots said.

The location contains various food outlets and a park, allowing for a day of paddling in a family-friendly environment.

Ms Kloots said the location blended perfectly with being able to provide a full-range of paddling and kayaking options.

“We are on a part of the canal that’s a four knot zone, which limits (water craft) and is great for beginners as it’s sheltered and a great way to learn,” Ms Kloots said.

“For the more adventurous and experienced paddle boarders and kayakers, we can also head into the main river system and explore some of the estuaries.”

Endless Summer is open seven days a week right through the school holidays, with hire being available from 8am (NSW).

Group bookings and bookings outside of those times are available and a subway meal voucher is available for purchase with hire right through summer.

Ms Kloots said the long-term plan was to incorporate activities such as stand-up yoga, fishing tours, catered-for parties and gatherings and an in-store espresso bar.

She said the family business was passionate about offering an awesome experience, and looked forward to providing people with activities they’ll truly enjoy.
