Elderly couple escape injury as car hits house

A BIZARRE day on Coast roads was capped off by a car hitting a house and a van rolling on Steve Irwin Way.

An elderly couple escaped major injury when their car hit a house on Alf's Rd at Bald Knob, near Maleny, just before 2pm yesterday.

The low-impact crash left the house with a gaping hole in one room, but luckily all involved escaped injury.

Shortly before the house was struck, a van rolled on Steve Irwin Way, causing minor traffic disruptions.

Police media said officers were called to the crash scene at about 1.30pm.

No injuries were reported to have been suffered, but traffic was delayed briefly while the van was removed.
