Paraglider injured in crash landing

A PARAGLIDER has suffered spinal injuries after he crashed on landing in the Numinbah Valley about 11.30am.

RACQ Careflight Aircrew man John Anderson said local residents were first on the scene to help the man, believed to be in his 50s or 60s, when he hit the ground heavily when he attempted to land.

"The patient was conscious when help arrived and has suspected back and pelvic injuries," he said.

The RACQ Careflight helicopter airlifted the man to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a serious but stable condition.

Queensland ambulance paramedics also attended the scene.
