Park saves water, money and world
THANKS to the Tweed Shire Council's top 20 water saving program, the BIG4 Tweed Billabong Holiday Park will replace its old single flush toilets with more eco-friendly dual flush toilets.
The move is estimated to save thousands of litres of water every year.
The BIG4 is one of the Tweed's top 20 water users, which qualified the park for financial assistance to install water saving devices through .
Tweed Shire Council's program is designed to lower water consumption from high water use businesses in the shire, helping them to adopt more efficient water use practices by providing a free water assessment, promotion opportunities and financial assistance of up to $5000.
Managers Rachael and Kieran Griffin pointed out the program's benefits for both businesses and the environment,
"By cutting our water use, we automatically reduced our water, sewer, liquid trade waste and power bills and are helping to protect our environment," Ms Griffin said.
"By using water efficient products and making some simple changes to our water use behaviours, thousands of litres of water can be saved," Mr Griffin added.
The council is planning to introduce the Tweed's top 100 water saving program targeting businesses and organisations such as clubs, shopping complexes, schools and industry and will offer participating businesses and other organisations up to $1000 in assistance.
