Parker confirms plans to retire

BRISBANE Broncos captain Corey Parker has announced that 2016 will be his last season.

Parker will also play in his final Origin match for Queensland on Wednesday night – win, lose, or draw – on home soil at Suncorp Stadium in game two of this year’s series.

His decision means the 34-year-old will fall short of Darren Lockyer’s club-record number of games total (355). He currently has 336.

“I’ve been very fortunate to fulfil a childhood dream to play for the Broncos, but, at some stage, all good things must come to an end,” he said.

More to come.
