Parker's anger at judiciary leniency

RUGBY LEAGUE: Brisbane captain Corey Parker has fired up at the NRL after Titans' Ryan James was banned for a week for breaking NSW Origin fullback James Tedesco's jaw.

The Bronco veteran joined the ever-growing list of critics of the NRL match review committee's inconsistency.

Parker received a one-match ban on a dangerous contact charge for a hit on the Wests Tigers' Tedesco in State of Origin III last month.

"You just want to see consistency,” Parker told Sky Sports.

"He's hit him with a closed fist, swinging arm that has since broken his jaw.

"I got Tedesco myself in the Origin match. I hadn't been charged in 15 years and got one week. Now he's got a broken jaw and he (James) got one week.”

Parker and James were charged with grade-two offences for their relevant tackles.

Tedesco (pictured) was falling when struck by James in the Titans' one-point win over Wests Tigers on Saturday.

Parker said the severity of the injury should be taken into account when considering suspensions, given Tedesco has now been ruled out for the season.

"Decisions are made, based on what I was led to believe, on the severity of the tackle,” Parker said.

"And he's broken his jaw, regardless of how it has happened.”

Tigers captain Aaron Woods said the outstanding Tedesco would have surgery tomorrow.

"He didn't look too good on the field at the time,” he told Triple M.

"He's got it broken in two spots and he's got to have an operation on Wednesday to reveal the full extent of the injury. At the moment, he's looking at six to eight weeks.”

Tedesco's injury compounds the Tigers' last-gasp loss to the Titans in Campbelltown, leaving the club facing a tough battle to make the finals.

The Tigers are 10th on 24 points, one point behind eighth-placed Gold Coast, who face the Knights in round 24.

Halfback Luke Brooks is expected to be back from a knee injury for the side's clash with the Panthers on Saturday, with Jordan Rankin likely to replace Tedesco at fullback.
