Terranora triumphs over M'bah

SPINNER David Parkes finished with five wickets as Terranora overwhelmed local rivals Murwillumbah in their limited-overs clash at Rabjones Oval on Saturday.

Parkes was almost unplayable as he captured 5-12 off eight devastating overs to help bundle the home side out for a paltry 78.

Terranora made short work of the run chase, passing the target in the 15th over with six wickets in hand. But while the batsmen delivered the winning runs the day belonged to Parkes.

The in-form spinner tore through the Murwillumbah top order to have the home side reeling at 7-42 before Gabriel Araujo (17) and tail-ender Sam Leveridge (21 not out) combined to provide some resistance.

But their efforts proved in vain with the Terranora batsmen making light of the pitch as they raced to victory.

Michael Grainger provided a glimmer of hope when he found the edge of opener Adam Rogers’ (0) bat first ball for a memorable golden duck, but it was short-lived.

Andrew Ridgewell (17) and Luke Baker (46) combined to put the visitors in a commanding position. before James Bonnor (4no) hit the winning runs.

Earlier, Bonnor (1-10) had made the initial breakthrough, snaring opener Matt Elliot for a duck in his opening over, before Parkes turned up the pressure.

Murwillumbah captain Matt Parker (6) was his first victim then young-gun Michael Grainger (10), Dominic Edwards (4), Brendan McDonald (2) and Gary Combs (0) followed in quick succession.
