Petrol stealing spree ends for teen with arrest

A TEEN who helped himself to petrol at four service stations was arrested yesterday.

The Bogangar man, 18, was arrested at his home by officers from the Tweed Heads Target Action Group.

Tweed Crime Manager Brendon Cullen said it was good police work which helped close the case.

"It was excellent work by a Tweed officer," he said.

"It was a good arrest and just goes to show we do follow up on people who want to steal.

"There is CCTV at the petrol stations and you will be caught."

The teen drove off without paying for a combined total of $182.5 fuel at four Tweed service stations this month and last.

He was charged with four counts of dishonestly obtaining property by deception and will appear at Tweed Heads Local Court later this month.
