Tyalgum farm on market for $1.95m

THE biggest property on the Tweed Shire market is expected to fetch almost $2 million.

A picturesque 405-hectare (1000-acre) farm at Tyalgum went on the market this week for $1,950,000 and has already received considerable interest, Professionals Kingscliff Property Consultant Brent Jones said.

“The callers I’ve had so far have been from developers,” Mr Jones said.

“It’s definitely the biggest I’ve seen in the Tweed Shire; you won’t find one bigger.”

Mr Jones said big properties in the Tweed Shire are usually only about 300 or 400 acres.

“It’s very unique. You don’t get many the size of this.

“It’s a big farm; you could spend a couple of hours driving around out there.

“From side to side, the way the crows fly, it’s 4km.”

The Boormans Road property would be ideal for development, Mr Jones said.

“There are seven lot titles on the property and three building entitlements.

“Basically that means three lots are big enough to accommodate houses through Tweed Shire Council laws,” he said.

“You could potentially end up with several lots, depending on council approval.

“It’s like the size of a small town.”

One of the property’s executors Julie Schiller (nee Bryant) said the farm had been in the Bryant family for generations.

“It’s an estate property,” Mrs Schiller said.

“It was once used as a logging property for a saw mill at Bray Park and my husband and I have run cattle on it for 30 years.”

Nestled in the shadow of Mount Warning, Mr Jones said the lots had great views.

“It’s beautiful and mountainous and there are some great house sites on the property,” he said.

“The property is mostly surrounded by farms and rural land.”

The farm is covered mostly with hardwood trees and more than 100 acres has been cleared, with a number of elevated home sites.
