Players have the world at their feet

JUNIOR Football Far North Coast representative players will take part in the biggest trial of their life at Goonellabah's Weston Park on Sunday, when “superclub” Barcelona FC sends its scouts to town.

Ruben Della, technical director of the official Barcelona Academy worldwide, and Gerry Gomez, director of the Barcelona Academy in Australia, will visit Lismore for the weekend to offer one lucky and committed player the opportunity of a lifetime.

The selected player (boy or girl aged between 10 and 15) and a guardian will fly return to Barcelona for seven days to train at the Barcelona Academy, all expenses paid.

There will be further trials held in Sydney and Canberra, but Lismore is the only non-metropolitan city that is hosting a trial.

The trials will take place at Weston Park Goonellabah between 10am and 3pm on Sunday.

Starting times for the trials are:

  • 10am - boys aged 10-12 years
  • 11am - girls aged 10-12 years
  • 12-1pm - lunch break
  • 1pm - boys aged 13-15 years
  • 2pm - girls aged 13-15 years

Football Far North Coast will be advised in due course of their decision.

Della and Gomez will also be in attendance at the “Corey New Cup” on Saturday at Weston Park.

Furthermore, Craig and Paul Foster will participate in the 5pm game.

And that is sure to be a hit with fans.
