Polding shirts the reward

POLDING selection is the goal for a group of Tweed Hockey young guns when they travel to Tamworth later this month.

Jaron Wilson and Owen Vandendriest, plus girls Lizzy Conlan, Ciara Laybatt, Chloe Jones, Page Armstrong, Meckenzie Youngblutt and Lucie Jones-Calvert, are all part of the Lismore District Catholic Schools representative teams.

The catchment area for that region stretches from Port Macquarie to the Tweed and includes a huge number of junior hockey players.

The players went to Grafton as part of the Tweed representative squad recently and impressed selectors when chosen for the Lismore District squad.

Jaron and Lucie both made the Polding team last year and good judges reckon a few more of the Tweed brigade will get the call up this year.

Of the eight players, seven of them play for the Kingscliff Hockey Club.

Meckenzie Youngblutt, who plays for Pottsville, is the only player from another club.

The group is very happy and excited to be travelling to Tamworth for the next representative tournament in just a few weeks time.
