Police arrest 14-year-old over firebug charges

AN ACCUSED fire bug wanted over a number of blazes that that broke-out during a total fire ban on the NSW Central Coast, has been arrested.

Several fires were allegedly lit at a park at Watanobbi late Monday.

The fires spread to nearby grassland and play equipment.

Police arrested a 14-year-old boy at the scene.

He was charged with malicious damage by fire, possess article to destroy property, leave fire lit in an open area un-extinguished and common assault.

He fronted the Wyong Children's Court today.
