Yamba assault

TWO backpackers had their stay in Yamba and their Christmas tainted when they were assaulted during the early hours of Christmas Eve.

Police said the two men were walking from the Pacific Hotel to the Yamba backpackers and stopped in Convent Lane to talk to a group of girls.

They were then confronted by two males of indigenous appearance and assaulted.

Police are investigating.

Home invasion

INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing into a home invasion in which a 23-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were assaulted on December 22.

Four males forced their way in and stole a small amount of cash and a car which was later found burnt out in Ngaru Village.

Police are asking for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
