Police charge man after alleged Kennedy Dr stabbing

POLICE have charged a man after an alleged stabbing at Tweed Heads West.

Police were called to a Kennedy Dr unit just after 10pm last Thursday after reports of a fight.

Officers were told a man, 43, was in his bedroom when he heard another man, unknown to him, yelling.

After a verbal argument, the unknown man, a 31-year-old, allegedly forced entry into the unit and became involved in a physical fight with the 43-year-old.

Both men were taken to Tweed Hospital and treated for lacerations.

Tweed/Byron Local Area Command officers arrested the 31-year-old on Saturday.

He was charged with affray and granted strict conditional bail.

He is due to face Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday, July 4.
