Police hunt for carjacker
POLICE are searching for the man behind an armed carjacking in Tweed Heads last night.
According to police reports, a man dressed in black with a balaclava and gloves held a pistol to a man's head forcing him to drive around Tweed Heads before taking cash and fleeing on foot.
About 7pm Monday night, a 38-year-old man was leaving the Kirra Shores complex on Binya Ave where he has commercial premises.
He was in his car, inside the automatic gate, waiting for it to open when the man approached from the passenger side.
He held the revolver style hand-gun to the drivers head and demanded he drive to the corner of The Quarterdeck and Companion Way, also in Tweed Heads.
When they arrived the man demanded the day's takings before running away.
The victim was able to call police after driving further down the road.
Police say a full investigation is now underway and would like to speak with anyone that has information that could assist.
