Police hunt two armed robbers who escaped with cash

TWO men armed with guns robbed the Kirra Sports Club early Sunday morning.

About 4.15am the men entered the Appel St club and forced two males, one 18 the other 28, to lie on the ground.

The thieves stole cash before escaping on foot.

Police from both sides of the border were at a Kennedy Dr BP petrol station yesterday morning investigating the incident.

Surveillance footage was inspected and fingerprints taken of a late model white Holden ute suspected of involvement in the robbery.

Police released descriptions of the men in a bid to try and catch them.

"The first man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 180cm tall and was wearing a long sleeve shirt, cargo pants and a bandana, all black in colour," a police statement said.

"The second man is described as being of Pacific Islander appearance, shorter than the first man, of stocky build and was also wearing black clothing and a bandana."

The males who were forced to lie down did not require medical attention after the ordeal.

Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24 hours a day.

It is another blow for the club which, earlier this year, suffered another hold up.
