Police intercept bus after assault leaves teen injured

POLICE intercepted a bus to arrest two teenagers who allegedly bashed an 18-year-old man unconscious at Noosa Heads.

Witnesses reported the two men allegedly punching and kicking the man at the Noosa Transit Centre about 1.50pm yesterday.

The man was unconscious with a laceration to the back of his head and a grazed face when emergency services arrived.

An ambulance spokesman said witnesses also had to be treated for nausea.

Police, in correspondence with SunBus, were able to track the two alleged offenders, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, to a bus bound for Cooroy.

The bus was intercepted 20 minutes later outside the Cooroy Hotel on Elm St and the teenagers were arrested.

They were charged with assault causing bodily harm, and the 18-year-old was also charged with one count of theft. The injured man was taken to Noosa Hospital where he received several stitches in his head.
