Police investigate possible connections between break ins

POLICE are continuing to investigate a recent spate of break and enters around Tweed Heads.

Tweed-Byron LAC detective inspector Brendon Cullen said a third break and enter occurred in Tweed Heads at the weekend.

This followed two incidents where elderly women were robbed and assaulted on Thursday and Friday last week.

"We're still investigating that," Insp Cullen said.

"We're looking at the possibility of these incidents being linked."

On Thursday August 7, a 69-year-old woman was woken about 5.15am by a loud noise emanating from the lounge room of her Adelaide St home.

The male intruder allegedly entered her bedroom before demanding she get out of bed and striking her in the face.

The man fled with a small amount of cash.

About 3.20 the next morning, another elderly woman was allegedly attacked and robber in her Lloyd St, Tweed Heads South home.

Anyone with information about any of these incidents should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
