Police looking for driver of stolen vehicle after car chase

POLICE are on the hunt for the driver of a stolen vehicle which was involved in a car chase on Saturday night.

Police from Tweed Byron Local Area Command said that at about 9:45pm on Saturday, police sighted a confirmed stolen motor vehicle, QLD registered 951VTJ driving east upon Kennedy Drive, Tweed Heads West.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, which ignored the direction and travelled northbound to the Pacific Highway.

Police pursued the vehicle, reaching speeds of 140 kmph.

Police terminated the pursuit as the stolen vehicle approached the NSW/QLD border.

The driver of the vehicle remains unknown and police are appealing for any information relating to the whereabouts of this vehicle.

It is described as a black coloured 2015 Holden Captiva.
