Police nab alleged armed robber six weeks later

POLICE managed to nab an armed bandit who allegedly robbed Kirra Sports Club on December 2 last year.

The terrifying ordeal happened when two men entered the club at 4.15am with firearms.

They forced two male employees to lie on the ground before fleeing on foot with stolen cash.

Police executed a search warrant on Saturday at a Carrara address where police located cannabis plants and a hydroponics system.

A 35-year-old Carrara man was charged with one count each of armed robbery, produce dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of a thing used in connection with the commission of a crime.

Investigations into the armed robbery are continuing.

The man remained in custody and was due to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday.
