Cop suspended for reckless driving

A POLICE officer has been suspended this week from the force following reckless driving charges in Chinderah.

The first year constable, who appeared in Tweed Heads Local Court on Tuesday, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle in a reckless and negligent manner.

The officer, who serves in the Queensland Police South Eastern Region, was also suspended from duty.

He was fined $1150 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.

The officer was off-duty when he committed the offences on June 26 last year.

He was stood down shortly after the incident.

An internal investigation into the matter is ongoing, according to Queensland Police.
