Father of dead Brisbane girl, 6, charged with murder

10PM UPDATE: Police have charged a 52-year-old man with murder following their investigations into the death of a six-year-old girl in Kedron this morning.

Police were called to a Sturt Street address at around 8am following the discovery of the girl's body.

A 52-year-old Kedron man has been charged with one count each of murder and attempted murder. 

The man is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

Father of dead Brisbane girl found in hospital

A MAN believed to be the father of a six-year-old girl who was found dead at a Brisbane home this morning has been found at a Gold Coast Hospital. 

Police confirmed the 52-year-old left his Kedron home at 5am on Monday, three hours before his daughter's body was found.

Acting superintendent Geoff Sheldon told Fairfax the man was yet to be questioned by investigators and stressed he was not a formal suspect. 

He said there were no obvious pointers as to what caused the girl to die.

POLICE are looking for the father of a six-year-old girl who was found dead at a Brisbane home this morning.

Officers were called to a house in Sturt Street at Kedron just after 8:00am (AEST), where they found the girl's body.

Officers are treating the girl's death as suspicious and a crime scene has been declared.

The cause of death was yet to be established.

Police said they were looking for the girl's father and a silver Mercedes car.

The mother and the eight-year-old sister of the girl have been taken to a police station.

Police have been door-knocking the area.
