Police re-open murder investigation
NEW evidence has prompted police to reopen an investigation into the murder of a young woman whose naked body was found dumped in a Sydney churchyard almost 12 years ago.
Rachael Campbell, 29, was last seen in King's Cross about 9.30pm, Friday, November 6, 1998.
Her body was discovered wrapped in blankets and a sheet in the grounds of the St Joseph's church at Rosebery the following morning.
In 2009, a man was extradited from Western Australia to NSW and charged with Ms Campbell's murder.
He was later acquitted in the NSW Supreme Court.
Detectives from the unsolved homicide team have recently received new evidence which they believe warrants further investigation.
It is believed Ms Campbell was travelling around in an orange Volkswagen combi van in the lead-up to her death.
Anyone with information can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
