Police smash window to rescue child from hot car, mum charged

ANOTHER parent has been charged with leaving their child in a locked car during this week's extreme heat.

Police allege a three-year-old girl was left in a carpark while her mother went shopping at Katoomba in the NSW Blue Mountains on Monday.

When she didn't wake up to knocking on the window, officers smashed through the glass.

They were still trying to wake the girl and cool her down when her mother arrived.

The girl was taken to hospital and released later that night.

Her 29-year-old mother was charged on Thursday with leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle causing harm or emotional distress.
