Police arrest wanted man over murder of Port Macquarie dad

A MAN wanted over the murder of a Port Macquarie father has been arrested at Toormina.

A full-scale search had been under way for the 33-year-old since Friday.

The man, who can not be named, is expected to be questioned  over the stabbing murder of Peter Martyn at Port Macquarie on New Year's Eve.

Police believe the man had recently moved to the Mid North Coast from Sydney.

Mr Martyn was heard screaming in the street before dying in a pool of blood at Flynns Beach.

An online profile under the arrested man's name suggests he was hoping to make friends in the Coffs Harbour area and has an interest in fitness training and motorbikes.

No charges have been laid.
