Police search for missing swimmer at Bruns

POLICE spent their Friday night search for a missing swimmer at Brunswick Heads.

About 7.15pm police were informed that a male had been seen swimming in large surf at Brunswick Heads Beach.

A witness told police that they lost sight of the male but could not be sure he left the water.

SLSA were not patrolling the beach at the time, but responded with IRB patrols.

A search was also conducted by QLD Polair 1, and at 8am on Saturday, SLSA completed a further search of the area failing to locate the swimmer.

To date, the Tweed/Byron Local Area Command has not received any reports of a missing person since Friday.
