Two men arrested in relation to North Mackay murder


Two men have been arrested in relation to the murder of Tyrone Michael Baynton and an arrest warrant has been issued for a third man.

The 24 and 26-year-old men arrested will face Mackay Magistrates Court tomorrow on charges including robbery, enter with intent, murder and manslaughter respectively.

Det Insp Colfs said "police had received information" and community assistance which led to the identification of the three men.

The two men charged were found at their North Mackay home addresses.

Police wish to emphasise that anyone harbouring this person is committing an offence and is liable to prosecution.

A number of detectives from the state homicide investigation group and detectives from the Mackay district contributed to the operation.

The murder weapon has not been located.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Mr Geissler are urged to contact Mackay police or Crime Stoppers immediately.


About 20 police officers are patrolling North Mackay, including near Palmer St today, searching for a man they would like to speak to in relation to the murder of Tyrone Michael Baynton.

Mr Baynton was located in the backyard of an Arcturus St block of units with a stab wound to the neck on October 11.

Meanwhile the man police are looking for was spotted about 7am today, Snr Sgt Mark Dwyer said.

He is not considered a threat and is not armed.

Police would not comment further.
